Tag Placement Guide
Where to place your FyndMe QR tags for the best chance of getting your items back — and where to look when you find something.
Best Practices for Tag Placement
Visible but protected
Place tags where they can be spotted by someone examining the item, but not where they'll be scraped off by daily wear. Inside a flap or under a protective cover is ideal.
Multiple tags for high-value items
For expensive items, consider placing two tags in different locations. If one gets damaged or removed, the other still works.
Flat, clean surfaces
Tags adhere best to flat, clean, dry surfaces. Wipe the area with rubbing alcohol before applying adhesive tags.
Avoid heat and friction zones
Don't place tags where they'll be exposed to extreme heat, constant rubbing, or moisture pooling. Near handles, latches, or exhaust vents are poor choices.
Test the scan
After placing a tag, scan it with your phone to confirm it works. QR codes need to be flat and undistorted to scan reliably.
Laminate or use clear tape
For paper-printed tags, cover them with clear packing tape or a self-adhesive laminating sheet to protect against water, fading, and wear.

The Golden Rule
Place your tag where a helpful stranger would find it while examining the item, but where it won't be worn away by daily use. Think: "If I handed this to someone and asked them to look for a sticker, where would they check first?" That's where your tag goes.
